About Aladdin Engineering

Our development teams are part of Aladdin Engineering, where we collaboratively build the next generation of technology that transforms how information, people, and technology intersect for global investment firms. We develop and package tools that manage trillions in assets and support millions of financial instruments, performing risk calculations and processing millions of transactions for thousands of users worldwide daily.

Team Focus: Core Private Markets Technology

You will be a key member of our core Private Markets technology team. This team is responsible for engineering our cloud-first Private Markets platform, built on a microservice architecture. This platform supports hundreds of client businesses, enabling them to manage and analyze their portfolios. Example projects include developing solutions for permissions management, document management, and business-facing investment services.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate inquisitiveness, enthusiasm, and an openness to quickly learn the business and our systems.
  • Design, develop, and implement secure, scalable, and reliable micro-services using Java technologies, leveraging REST and gRPC where applicable, to deliver client-facing applications.
  • Contribute to individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables within AGILE methodologies.
  • Deliver highly efficient, highly available, concurrent, and fault-tolerant software systems.
  • Collaborate with your team, product management, and business users to execute the product roadmap.
  • Design and develop innovative solutions to complex challenges, proactively identifying issues and roadblocks.
  • Engage with the wider organization and become an integral part of the broader Aladdin Engineering community.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
  • Experience with Java 17+.
  • Proven experience in designing and building scalable micro-services using API-First principles, with proficiency in at least one of REST/gRPC.
  • Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud services is beneficial.
  • Experience with message brokers such as Kafka is a plus.
  • Demonstrable experience building modern software using engineering tools such as git, maven, unit testing, integration testing tools, and mocking frameworks.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) are required.
  • A practical understanding of Object-Oriented development and the application of standard Design Patterns in software design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly grasp new concepts.
  • A friendly and positive attitude.
