Trained CG Animator, hand-drawn animation is a plus
Experience as a professional Animator and/or Animation Supervisor in Television and/or Feature Animation
Experience with character animation
Proven excellence with action, comedic, and emotional moments
Understanding of anatomy, perspective, composition, and cinematic storytelling
Demonstrated ability to solve problems of weight, balance, movement, space, construction, and proportion
Demonstrated proficiency with the principles of animation timing and the dynamics of animals and human figures in action
Demonstrated acting and staging skills and the ability to caricature features, actions, and emotions
Experience with outsourced pipelines preferred
Good team player
CG Animation experience required. 2D Animation experience a plus
Expert proficiency in Maya
Experience with production tracking tools like Shotgrid/ftrack a plus
Familiarity with USD-based pipelines a plus
Positive attitude with the ability to be flexible
Excellent organizational, verbal, written, e-social skills and acumen
Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience
Responsibilities
Work closely with EP, Supervising Producer, Supervising Director, and Director(s) to establish the animation style of the series
Work with the Producer, Supervising Producer, CG Supervisor, Line Producer, and Animation Service Provider to ensure the animation style can be produced within the budget and schedule parameters
Work with the Supervising Producer, CG Supervisor, and Animation Service Provider to arrive at technical solutions required to achieve the artistic style of animation
Identify and troubleshoot issues with character modeling, character facial rigs, and character body rigging
Identify and troubleshoot animation issues from acting mechanics to technical problems
Act as a liaison between Disney Television Animation and Animation Service Provider, building a relationship with their Animation Leads to the highest quality performances
Write animation handout notes describing the acting, emotion, and action of each shot/sequence
Write camera notes describing the lens choice and speed of camera moves
Advise and support the animators in achieving the desired style and meet milestones
Attend reviews and oversee shot deliveries to approve and/or make retake notes on all shots coming out of the animation department
Be responsible for maintaining continuity and consistency within the series. Providing consistent and clear feedback to the animation department
Demonstrate animation techniques, motivate, and inspire animators at the Animation Service Provider
Additional duties as necessary, for example, show documentation, guides, and bibles
