Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience in similar underwriting or payments role or recent graduate in a numerical field
  • Drive and passion to build a career in fintech or payments
  • Good IT skills, especially in Excel/Google Sheets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of financial statement analysis
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, and deliver results against a tight deadline
  • Experience in underwriting high risk lines of business including travel, furniture, ticket and events, securities, gambling etc

Responsibilities

  • Conduct business model analysis inline with internal policy guidelines and apply evaluation techniques to achieve the desired results for complex deals
  • Completing customer due diligence checks and analysis into second line Compliance teams for high risk applications
  • Make underwriting recommendations in accordance with frameworks and calculate exposure in line with existing guidance with the ability to tailor approach based on merchant specifics
  • Complete financial analysis of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements and demonstrate a competent understanding of accounting principles
  • Prepare detailed oral and written summaries to assess micro and macro risks, mitigating factors and make balanced recommendations to present to management and the Credit Risk Committee
  • Represent Underwriting in customer calls and meetings alongside Sales or Account Management
