Requirements

Candidates must possess a Master's or PhD in a quantitative field such as statistics, computer science, cognitive science, economics, or operations research. A minimum of 3 years of direct experience programming large, multi-source datasets with SAS is required, along with a minimum of 3 years in a healthcare setting. An actuarial sciences background, medical economics, provider finance, healthcare analytics, or financial services experience is highly preferred, as is a comprehensive understanding of medical claims data. Intermediate to advanced expertise with SAS Stat, SAS ETS, SAS Enterprise Miner, or equivalents is strongly preferred. Proven ability to design modeling studies, experience with data models, addressing data quality issues, and constructing robust analytical data sets are also highly preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

Responsibilities

The Advanced Analytics Analyst Senior will measure the financial performance of core Carelon products using claims, authorization, and membership data to communicate findings to business stakeholders. This role involves creating statistical models to predict, classify, quantify, and forecast business metrics. Responsibilities include designing modeling studies to address specific business issues, preparing analytical datasets, building, testing, and validating statistical models, and publishing results while addressing limitations with business partners. The analyst will also proactively collaborate with business partners to identify population segments and develop actionable plans to identify patterns related to quality, use, cost, and other variables.
