Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care in multiple modalities: hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, ultrafiltration, continuous renal replacement therapy, and Apheresis
Supervises and directs Patient Care Technicians and clerical staff
Provides direction and education to ICU staff for CRRT
Assesses patients’ responses to treatment and adjusts the treatment plan as needed, in consultation with the physician
Communicates problems or concerns to the Inpatient Program Manager, physician, patient’s primary nurse, and others as required
Delivers safe, effective, and timely patient care
Provides organized shift reports
Applies critical thinking skills to shift patient schedules to meet the needs of more critical patients
Implements, administers, monitors, and documents patient’s response to prescribed intradialytic transfusions, including notification of adverse reactions
Collaborates with physicians and the healthcare team to interpret, adjust, and coordinate daily patient care plans
Initiates and communicates as needed to FMS facility nursing staff and hospital personnel
Accurately documents all treatment information in ACES and the hospital record
Cleans and disinfects dialysis equipment and surrounding areas
Performs all tasks necessary for preparation for dialysis treatment
