Requirements

  • Entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) - required to complete CAP requirements to advance
  • Ability to perform physical demands: heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, frequent prolonged standing, bending over, moving machines/equipment up to 200 lbs. with assistance, lifting chemical/water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license and qualifications to practice in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, applicable contractual service agreements, state, and federal regulations

Responsibilities

  • Provision and coordination of clinically competent care including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
  • Delegation of appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff (RNs, LVN/LPNs, Patient Care Technicians)
  • Participation in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities as a member of the kidney disease health care team
  • Ongoing systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-during-post treatment, documentation in patient medical record, adjustments/modifications to treatment plan, and notification to Supervisor, Physician, patient’s primary nurse, etc
  • Assessment, collaboration, and documentation of patient/family’s basic learning needs; provision of initial and ongoing education
  • Recognition and reporting/collaboration on aspects of patient status varying from normal with appropriate health team members
  • Direction and provision of safe, effective patient care for assigned patients as prescribed for modality-specific treatment procedures
  • Daily assessment of assigned patient care needs and collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff
  • Initiation and coordination of communication with FKC and Non-FKC dialysis providers and contracted facility personnel for continuity of care
  • Implementation, administration, monitoring, and documentation of patient’s response to prescribed intradialytic transfusions, including notification of adverse reactions
  • Administration of medications as prescribed, with documentation of medical justification and effectiveness
  • Initiation and assistance with emergency response measures
  • Serving as a resource for health care team, participation in staff training and orientation of new staff
  • Provision of specialized nursing care instruction to hospital/facility staff as contractually stipulated
  • Assistance in Outpatient facility on an as-needed basis
  • Performance of all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • Performance of all essential functions under direction of Supervisor and with guidance from Educator, Preceptor, or in collaboration with another RN
