Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university majoring in accounting
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in the financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable areas or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Extensive knowledge of related functions and departmental processes
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task while meeting deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Manages the AP functions to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Reviews and evaluates the AP registers to validate charges and ensure timely and accurate payments
  • Designs and implements standards, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate and compliant financial records
  • Audits methods and procedures of the accounts payable and receivable functions to improve efficiency
  • Manages a staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs
  • Manages the monthly closing process and ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
  • Assists with coordinating the external annual audit including the preparation of various audit schedules related to the department
  • Responsible for monthly account reconciliations as needed
  • Works closely with sister companies to ensure monthly and quarterly AP balance confirmations are aligned
  • Participates in process improvement projects
  • Works with accounting team to develop and implement best practices related to accounting process and controls
  • Responsible for ad-hoc requests related to the accounting team
  • Mentors and develops staff and strengthens the AP accounting team at Wonderful Orchards
  • Reviews and approves all AP processes and develops improvements for policies, procedures, and processes
  • Works with internal groups on automation where deemed appropriate
  • Responsible for annual 1099 process and filings with IRS
  • Performs other duties as assigned
