Requirements

Skilled in accounting for income taxes, including return to provision, effective tax rate reconciliation, and US GAAP provisioning
Experience with US GAAP legal entity closings related to direct tax accounts for medium to complex legal entities
Knowledge of tax filing processes, particularly for Singapore and German entities
Expertise in approving complex reconciliations, journal entries, and validating business cases
Broader understanding of Caterpillar systems, business interdependencies, and internal/external customer requirements
Ability to review and coach on tax reporting (deferred tax workings, return to provision, effective rate calculations)
Leadership skills to create and maintain a workforce aligned with Caterpillar Values, set goals, supervise teams, prioritize projects, evaluate performance, and provide career guidance
Technical guidance on complex accounting issues
Ability to leverage technology (AI agents, data analytics, Tableau, robotics) for accounting and reporting

Responsibilities

Lead the Tax COE for accounting for income taxes processes (return to provision, effective tax rate reconciliation, US GAAP provisioning)
Review and guide US GAAP legal entity closings related to direct tax accounts for shared services legal entities
Act as trusted advisor for direct tax queries and information requests from Global Tax for Singapore and German entities
Approve complex reconciliations and non-recurring journal entries; validate business cases and prepare dashboards for management
Provide knowledge sharing on Caterpillar business, systems, and latest tax accounting/reporting developments
Review and coach on tax reporting (deferred tax workings, return to provision, effective rate calculations, corporate tax requests)
Align team goals with Caterpillar’s strategy and vision
Supervise team workload, prioritize projects, assign/review work, participate in hiring, evaluate performance, promote successes, and provide career guidance
Communicate vision, motivate team to excel, and provide technical expertise on complex issues
Advocate and leverage latest technical tools (AI, data analytics, Tableau, robotics) for world-class processes
Ensure monthly tax balances are fairly presented, compliance with tax accounting policies/internal controls, and support tax portion of statutory audits
