Requirements

  • Expertise in 9th Grade Math (Numbers and Operations) or 10th Grade Math (Trigonometry), including relevant skills such as properties of numbers, expressions/equations/identities, ratio/rate/percentages, proportional reasoning, functions (linear/quadratic/exponential), graphing, systems of equations/inequalities, algebra with exponents/roots/rational expressions, geometric figures, coordinate geometry, triangle geometry, trigonometric/inverse trig functions, radian measure, unit circle, graphing/modeling with trig functions, function notation/composition/inverses, graph characteristics/transformations, rate of change, limits, derivatives/power rule, and SAT Math content
  • Ability to teach four 50-minute lessons to groups of 25-30 students using a student-centered approach
  • Availability for specific dates and schedules: For 9th Grade - Orientation 2/28/2026 (9am-2pm), Academy sessions 3/14, 3/21, 3/28, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9; For 10th Grade - Orientation 1/24/2026 (9am-2pm), Academy sessions 1/31, 2/7, 2/14, 3/7, 3/14, 3/21, 4/1, 4/18, 4/25, 5/9
  • Commitment to Saturdays 9:00am-4:00pm (6 standard hours weekly, including ~50min lunch) plus up to 4 flex hours weekly for prep/grading/feedback/communication
  • In-person availability at UC Law campus, 200 McAllister St, San Francisco, CA 94102
  • Passion for educating motivated high school students toward college prep

Responsibilities

  • Implement rigorous college-prep Math curriculum (Numbers and Operations for 9th or Trigonometry for 10th Grade)
  • Teach four 50-minute periods of Math instructional content to 2 groups of ~25-30 Scholars
  • Use student-centered approach as coach and facilitator to promote depth of understanding and skill acquisition
  • Participate in instructor orientation and Scholar orientation
  • Engage in instructional prep periods during the 9:00am-4:00pm schedule
  • Complete flex hours work: lesson preparation, grading, entering gradebook data, writing Scholar feedback, communicating with staff and Scholars
