Requirements

Bachelor degree in nursing (BSN) preferred
Registered nurse temporary permit issued by State Board of Nursing in the state of employment
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification (required within 30 days of hire), with bi-annual re-certification
Formal training in management of the aggressive patient (required within 60 days of hire), with annual re-certification
Previous psychiatric experience with children, adolescents, and adults is preferred
May be required to hold a Qualified Medical Professional (QMP) designation (evaluated and potentially renewed annually)
For Child/Adolescent Day Treatment programs: training in psychiatric nursing, including training in work with children with mental health disorders, or one (1) year of experience working in a clinical setting with these children

Responsibilities

Implement patient care plans
Assess patients both physically and mentally
Collaborate with Psychiatrist, Therapist, Dietitians, and other members of the clinical team to develop appropriate plans of care
Communicate with patients and their families
Administer medication
Provide patient information to ensure compliance with federal and state statutes (in collaboration with the Patient Accounts department)
