Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Registered nurse temporary permit issued by State Board of Nursing in the state of employment
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification (required within 30 days of hire), with bi-annual re-certification
  • Formal training in management of the aggressive patient (required within 60 days of hire), with annual re-certification
  • Previous psychiatric experience with children, adolescents, and adults is preferred
  • May be required to hold a Qualified Medical Professional (QMP) designation (evaluated and potentially renewed annually)
  • For Child/Adolescent Day Treatment programs: training in psychiatric nursing, including training in work with children with mental health disorders, or one (1) year of experience working in a clinical setting with these children

Responsibilities

  • Implement patient care plans
  • Assess patients both physically and mentally
  • Collaborate with Psychiatrist, Therapist, Dietitians, and other members of the clinical team to develop appropriate plans of care
  • Communicate with patients and their families
  • Administer medication
  • Provide patient information to ensure compliance with federal and state statutes (in collaboration with the Patient Accounts department)
