The Workday Financials Functional Architect is a senior, billable functional lead responsible for providing expert guidance and delivery for Workday Financials engagements, including implementations and AMS support. This role involves driving client value realization from their Workday investment, working closely with Engagement Managers, Managers, and other functional leads. The architect ensures robust, complete, and future-ready Workday Financials solutions that meet client needs with minimal rework.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead multiple, concurrent Workday Financials AMS engagements.
  • Resolve client requirements through tailored Workday financial solutions.
  • Oversee all functional areas on assigned AMS engagements, ensuring efficient and accurate design and configuration.
  • Provide high-level guidance on the entire Workday Financials product suite to clients and leaders.
  • Partner with customers to build roadmaps aligned with their needs and industry trends.
  • Design and deliver future-ready Workday solutions to optimize finance functions.
  • Mentor junior project resources, guiding skill development and customer interaction.
  • Serve as an advocate and escalation point for the Engagement Manager and functional team.
  • Connect with leadership at all levels of customer and prospect organizations.
  • Ensure adherence to methodology and provide feedback for process improvement.
  • Drive continuous optimization of the AMS methodology and tools.
  • Ensure cohesive project structures and communications for cross-functional delivery (HCM, Payroll, Integrations, Financials, OCM, Data Conversion, Reporting).
  • Assist project managers and team members in identifying project needs and developing solutions.
  • Drive team performance to achieve high customer satisfaction and align with organizational objectives and KPIs.
  • Actively participate in the Workday Product Lead Program.
  • Attend Workday KSS calls for Financials product areas.
  • Maintain Workday certifications.
  • Assist Solution Architects with project estimating.
  • Participate in Sales Orals meetings.
  • Assist with or review Change Order estimates for functional areas.
  • Participate in discussions regarding functional areas that may come into scope.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Current Workday Financials Certification with multiple domains is mandatory.
  • Foundation Data Model (FDM) Certification is desired.
  • 9+ years of Workday Financials implementation or AMS experience.
  • Experience handling multiple AMS engagements is a plus.
  • Ability to balance multiple project engagements concurrently.
  • Ability to work with teams across different time zones.
  • Experience with General Ledger and at least one of the following: Accounting Center, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Contracts, Projects, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Asset Management, Expense Management, Cash Management, and Grants Management.
  • Previous experience in thought leadership is preferred.
  • Possess project management and/or team lead experience.
  • Minimal travel required, with willingness to travel on-site if needed.
