Requirements

  • Technical expertise in a specific aspect of chemistry, chemical engineering, or related discipline (e.g., processes for chemical transformations, phase transitions, sensing techniques, synthesis, refining systems)
  • Design authority and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying technical issues throughout the organization
  • People skills, including effective mentoring of early career engineers
  • Leadership in applying science, engineering theory, processes, standards, best practices, and lessons learned
  • Knowledge of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology principles for producing, designing, transporting, and transforming energy and materials
  • Ability to assess risks, hazards, and implement mitigating measures
  • Expertise in practical applications such as coatings, nanomaterials, fluid design, corrosion, lubrication, electrochemistry, fuel cells, membrane design, catalysts, material characterization, selection, and compatibility
  • Experience with selection of valves, static/rotating equipment, solvents, absorbers, or novel materials

Responsibilities

  • Execute projects to evaluate and improve performance, cost, or reliability of existing products and services, driven by supply chain, quality, reliability, and product line needs
  • Advise on design for manufacture and reliability for ongoing projects
  • Support AMO, category management, and procurement teams in sourcing raw, intermediate, and/or finished goods needed for manufacturing
  • Develop processes to induce or prevent chemical transformations or phase transitions
  • Design sensing techniques for chemical assays
  • Engineer synthesis and refining systems for production, improvement, mixing, or compounding of materials
  • Contribute to the technical community as a recognized expert
