As a Virtual Math Content Teacher, you will play a crucial role in delivering engaging virtual instruction and fostering student growth.

Requirements

  • Expert in upper elementary and/or middle school math.
  • Belief that schools should take students seriously and excitement for a new approach to schooling.
  • 5+ years of recent full-time experience teaching 3rd-9th grade math.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience with US math standards and curricula required.
  • Ability to build and adapt curriculum materials to meet student needs.
  • Experience differentiating content and developing instructional plans to support all students.
  • Enthusiasm for a hybrid academic model blending virtual instruction, learning software, and in-person support.
  • Belief in technology as a powerful learning tool.
  • High expectations for student outcomes and a proven track record of driving student growth.
  • Energized by a start-up environment, comfortable giving and receiving feedback, and embracing change and iteration.
  • Experience working with online tools such as Google Classroom and Zoom.

Responsibilities

  • Virtual Instruction: Teach approximately 6 classes per day virtually to cohorts of students. Build strong relationships, establish routines and expectations, and create a culture that fosters students’ growth as independent learners.
  • Curriculum Planning: Adapt curriculum to deliver engaging and effective lessons in a virtual setting.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze student data to inform planning and guide instructional decisions.
  • Mastery-Based Grading: Regularly document data to provide clear insights into student progress for students, families, and other teachers.
  • Collaboration: Partner with on-the-ground Primer Leaders to improve student outcomes.
