Requirements

Candidates should possess a Master's degree in computer science and/or engineering, with 7-9 years of hands-on Core Java experience in enterprise software development. A deep understanding of Java internals, memory and performance optimization tools, and practical experience as a quantitative developer with numerical computer methods are essential. Prior experience in the investment management industry is required, along with demonstrated leadership experience and a willingness to mentor junior team members. Familiarity with Java, Python, SQL, basic calculus, linear algebra, and the investment management business domain is expected.

Responsibilities

The Senior Java Developer will contribute to the development of BlackRock's next-generation portfolio risk analytics and modeling engine, focusing on transforming the platform into a more scalable and modular architecture. Key responsibilities include designing new modules and APIs, developing application servers to provide clients with innovative methods for leveraging analytics and models, and providing technical leadership to junior team members. The role also involves engaging with users and stakeholders to refine external client requirements and collaborating with quantitative researchers and product managers to understand business use cases and enhance operational efficiency.
