Knowledge based upon special training equivalent to trade school
Perform mechanical skills critical to complex mechanical set up
Understanding of blueprints and mathematical computations involving decimals
Ability to make decisions based on guidelines and experience for quality operations
Strong interpersonal skills for discussions and recommendations (e.g., resolving equipment, tooling problems)
Adherence to a wide range of safety procedures, including Global Star Safety Program, safety rules, practices, and training
Capability for heavy physical exertion in highly disagreeable working conditions
Ability to keep working area clean and orderly
Use of measuring equipment (e.g., microscope micrometers, go/no go pitch and block gages) to ensure quality of fit-finish-form
Operation of various small equipment (die carts, hand trucks, electric hoists) and hand tools (shovel, wrenches, mops, ram adjusting ratchet, steel cutting hammers and shears)
Responsibilities
Set up and operate punch press for blanking, piercing, stamping, shaving procedures
Load steel coils on unwinder
Proper placement and adjustment of progressive, modular, and nitrogen stripper dies in presses
Set up, adjust, maintain chopper assembly
Set speed, monitor operation of press and auxiliary equipment
Perform visual and dimensional quality checks and complete SPC requirements
Remove processed steel (parts and scrap) from press operation in prescribed manner
Receive instructions from supervisor
Load and unload press operation (Jaco unwinders, Minster presses, various dies) as necessary
Conduct quality checks and reports as directed by operation requirements
Change and adjust tooling, dies, and chopper blades
Report all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to immediate supervisor
Work in manners that stress preventing accidents and illnesses, taking precautions for self and coworkers
