Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required (Engineering preferred: Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Manufacturing, Welding, Plastics, Materials, Chemical) or equivalent Technical Degree
  • Five years of experience in quality, engineering and/or manufacturing
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, procedures, tooling, equipment, and facilities
  • Ability to investigate quality problems and apply sound technical judgment to develop solutions
  • Proficient in print reading and interpretation, part measurement, gage design and function
  • Knowledge of geometric design and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of statistical quality control and design of experiments
  • Ability to travel up to 50% (domestic and international)
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee) or non-U.S. Person eligible to obtain required export control authorization

Responsibilities

  • Ensure supplier compliance with APQP and PPAP approval requirements
  • Review and approve quality plans (Control Plans, PFMEA) for new components and assemblies
  • Review and audit supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier quality issues
  • Perform on-site supplier visits to root cause and verify corrective actions for supplier quality issues
  • Perform PPAP and Run-at-rate verifications, audits, and periodic compliance monitoring
  • Improve supplier quality performance through onsite workshops, technical assistance in developing robust quality systems, or other technical support
  • Provide technical assistance during supplier launch, change-over, and ongoing production activities
  • Act as technical liaison between product engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and supply base
  • Oversee APQP for new programs and provide supplier development leadership throughout the commodity lifecycle for GM Defense programs
