Candidates must be enrolled in a UK university pursuing a Computer Science degree or a related field, with a minimum of two years of undergraduate study completed, and already have completed basic Computer Science courses. They should possess extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in computer programming, particularly in the Python language, and be able to demonstrate individual effort through course projects or assignments. Solid software engineering skills, including knowledge of scripting languages like shell scripting and Perl, along with experience working under both Linux and Windows operating systems, are required.
The student worker will conduct experiments and develop small applications to translate theoretical concepts into practical applications within a professional environment, engaging with colleagues, supervisors, and the support team to progress on assigned projects and meet delivery deadlines and goals. They are expected to take initiative, seek out new challenges, and contribute towards the team’s success, while also taking ownership of their assigned development tasks, documenting them, and presenting them to the team. Clear communication channels with the supervisor are essential, along with a willingness to seek guidance to ensure awareness of expectations.
