Requirements

Minimum 2 years experience in mechanical structure analysis: static structure, bolted joints, fatigue, rotordynamics, modal
Experience in FEA (ANSYS workbench preferred)
Methodical, rigorous and efficient
Ability to guide design team to optimize structure
Ability to understand structure and loads, static and dynamic
Good team, communication and leadership skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision and identify strategies to remove roadblocks
Mental flexibility and the ability to change direction based on new information
Catia 3DX or equivalent
Experience with tolerancing requirements
Google G-Suite including drive, mail, calendar, docs, sheets, slides, charts, hangouts; slack, application lifecycle
Ability to work hard to meet ambitious goals and tight deadlines
Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; occasionally stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

Assess, understand and challenge boundary conditions from interfacing groups
Perform hand calculations and FEA to ensure product integrity at minimum weight
Document analyses for internal reviews and certification purposes
Evaluate need for and define requirements for coupon / specimen or bench test to support validation and verification of structure
Support definition of test plans for full engine tests on test stand or on aircraft to verify analyses
Collaborate with design to ensure the most efficient products are defined
Collaborate with the systems and certification team to ensure certifiability of products
Contribute to the development of propulsion system components used in the motors and inverters, from a blank page to a certified product
Optimize designs to meet performance requirements, minimize weight and maximize robustness
Documenting the analyses, validating the boundary conditions and results by developing test plans and analyzing test data and correlating to the predictions
Develop manufacturing tooling and validation equipment such as propeller stands, dynos, bench top test rigs
