Requirements

Candidates should possess a higher education degree in economics, mathematics, or statistics, or demonstrate a passion for models and data and have matured to this level after completing other types of studies. They must have experience in analyzing or using/managing models, be able to statistically assess the quality of model performance and interpret results, and be familiar with both classic (Excel) and modern (R/Python) data analysis techniques. Strong knowledge of relational/non-relational databases and SQL proficiency is required, as well as the ability to communicate the results of their work in a clear and understandable manner.

Responsibilities

The Senior Model Validation and Risk Specialist will analyze a wide range of risk models used in the Bank, including classic and machine learning models (scoring models, rating models, credit risk parameters – such as provisions and internal capital, monitoring and recovery models, valuation models, and more). They will assess how these models function and predict their future performance, identify areas for improvement, develop the validation workshop, develop and refine testing methods, and optimize validation processes. Furthermore, they will build tools to support risk management, gain experience through collaboration with model building teams, and share knowledge with units across Santander’s international network.
