Requirements

Candidates must possess 10+ years of experience in designing, building, shipping, and maintaining complex full-stack software at scale, fluency in at least one backend and one frontend language (willingness to learn Python and JavaScript), experience working in a startup environment, the ability to operate effectively and independently with ambiguity, flexibility to function as an individual contributor or team lead, and the ability to quickly ramp up to Propel’s product ecosystem to contribute to impactful projects. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are also required, along with the ability to provide excellent feedback in technical specifications and code reviews.

Responsibilities

This role involves being a strategic leader in identifying technical and product opportunities, up-leveling engineering standards by establishing best practices for technical decisions, code hygiene, documentation, and judgment when shipping high-quality products and projects, diving deep into complex problems at scale, and potentially leading a team. The Staff Software Engineer will also interact with government programs, surfacing savings opportunities, healthcare, internal tooling, and architecture, and advocating for refactoring legacy systems.
