Requirements

  • Expertise in designing and implementing observability solutions for edge computing environments, including monitoring, logging, tracing, and metrics collection
  • Experience defining and maintaining SLIs, SLOs, and business KPIs for system reliability in edge and centralized infrastructure
  • Proficiency in building and optimizing dashboards, visualizations, and alerting systems for real-time insights and incident response
  • Knowledge of distributed tracing and log aggregation systems for troubleshooting in edge computing
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering teams to incorporate observability best practices in resource-constrained environments
  • Skills in driving proactive issue identification to reduce MTTD and MTTR in distributed systems
  • Experience leading incident postmortems and implementing observability-driven improvements
  • Capability to develop and maintain tools, scripts, and automation for observability pipelines in edge computing challenges (e.g., bandwidth limitations, intermittent connectivity)
  • Familiarity with industry-standard observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, OpenTelemetry)
  • Experience optimizing observability data storage, retention, and querying for performance, cost, and scalability
  • Senior-level leadership skills to mentor junior SREs and engineers on observability best practices
  • Ability to partner with cross-functional teams (solution, engineering, business) to align observability with business objectives
  • Capacity to lead cross-functional initiatives for improving observability, reliability, and efficiency
  • Knowledge of emerging observability trends, tools, and methodologies for edge computing and distributed systems

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain SLIs, SLOs, and business KPIs to measure and enhance system reliability

  • Implement distributed tracing and log aggregation systems to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure applications and infrastructure are designed with observability in mind
  • Drive proactive identification of issues in edge facilities using advanced observability tools
  • Lead incident postmortems, analyzing root causes and implementing improvements
  • Develop and maintain tools, scripts, and automation to enhance observability pipelines
  • Evaluate and integrate industry-standard observability tools and recommend edge-specific solutions
  • Optimize observability data storage, retention, and querying across remote facilities
  • Mentor and guide junior SREs and engineers on observability best practices for edge computing
  • Partner with solution, engineering, and business teams to align observability with business objectives
