Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Relations, Communications, Business or related field (or suitable combination of education, experience, and training)
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in Communications, Media Relations, and driving strategic corporate communications plans
  • Demonstrated experience as a people leader, talent development, and coaching
  • Global communications experience and perspective, understanding, and acumen
  • Demonstrated experience managing crises and issues in a high-profile, fast-paced environment
  • Media relations and spokesperson experience
  • Experience partnering and collaborating with cross-functional teams including Legal
  • Experience managing highly confidential, sensitive enterprise information

Responsibilities

  • Drive development and implementation of comprehensive corporate issues management strategies to anticipate, identify, and respond to emerging issues impacting Nike’s corporate reputation, including establishing clear strategy, process, and responsibilities
  • Develop and execute communications plans for crisis management (e.g., product recalls, operational failures), including creating clear messaging, talking points, QAs, and POV on designated communication channels
  • Proactively identify potential reputational risks and issues in partnership with the Nike Intelligence Center and cross-functional partners
  • Shape the external narrative through media relations, partnering closely with Senior Director of Corporate Media Relations on messaging and approach
  • Strategically create and distribute positive content in partnership with Brand and Geo teams to build Nike’s reputation
  • Develop and execute communication plans for internal and external stakeholders to ensure message consistency
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leaders on reputation management and responses to protect company interests
  • Lead a team, develop talent, and work cross-functionally and collaboratively to deliver results
  • Partner closely with Nike’s Communications Leadership Team and collaborate across Global, North America, and Geography Communications, as well as cross-functional teams (e.g., Media Relations, Corporate, Finance, HR, Executive, Brand Communications, Legal, Government & Public Affairs, Resilience, Security, Ethics & Compliance)
