Software Engineer

Position Overview

The Software Engineer designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for enhancements and new products. They will also develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. This role works on problems of limited scope and receives detailed instructions, applying company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administration, development, and application support for end users.
  • Assist in the design, develop, code, test, and debug system software.
  • Review code and design.
  • Assist with configuring and integrating third-party software components and technologies.
  • Perform root cause analysis of network, operating system, and other issues related to how technical solutions operate in customer environments.
  • Address and resolve software bugs and bug reproduction requests.
  • Log all incidents and requests.
  • Engage other service desk resources or appropriate service resources to resolve incidents beyond the scope of their ability or responsibility.
  • Provide appropriate logging and tracking of incidents and requests from identification through to resolution as per established policies.
  • Provide limited after-hours and on-call support as needed.
  • Assist with the review and development of test documentation.
  • Work with stakeholders and cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from a four-college or university and 0 to 2 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Builds stable working relationships internally.
  • Follows standard practice and procedures when analyzing situations or data.
  • Understanding of various development programs.
  • Ability to quickly learn customer support processes, tools, and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both speaking and writing).
  • Ability to collaborate and work remotely, including the use of communication tools.
  • Ability to multi-task and self-organize, including prioritization of activities.
  • Understanding of using monitoring systems.
  • Attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with system administration.

Physical Demand & Work Environment

  • Ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Ability to move from place to place within an office environment.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
