As a client services company, we guide agencies constrained by legacy systems to a future with sharp user experiences built on secure, reliable, fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure. We bill for our time, offering our expertise and problem-solving approach to help our government partners enhance their digital products and services.

People are at the heart of our work, from members of the public who rely on benefit programs to government agency staff. Through human-centered design and modern engineering best practices, we help our government partners understand user needs and deliver on their missions more effectively. This focus gives everyone at Nava the opportunity to do work that is meaningful, impactful, and deeply connected to public good.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Drupal Software Engineer to support the modernization of our Federal client’s Drupal-based Data Catalog platform. This platform, a central hub for datasets, governance documentation, applications, and system metadata, is being re-architected to improve scalability, usability, and integration across the client’s digital ecosystem. The role involves close collaboration with the stakeholders and Product Owner’s internal team of designers and engineers in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

This position is ideal for a Software Engineer who thrives in a mission-driven, public-sector digital services environment and has experience modernizing Drupal applications with scalable, API-driven architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the re-architecture and implementation of the client’s centralized Data Catalog using Drupal
  • Build and maintain custom content types and data structures to support a broad range of content, including data products, dashboards, and visualizations
  • Develop secure and scalable API integrations with AWS DataZone, Glue, EDP, PowerBI, and other platforms
  • Implement a Medallion Architecture approach to enable secure data product publication and subscription workflows
  • Support Zero Trust principles through lineage tracking and role-based access controls
  • Collaborate with team and internal design resources to ensure front-end functionality meets user needs (no front-end design work required)
  • Enable flexible, fast-paced development workflows that support iterative delivery and continuous improvement
  • Troubleshoot and optimize Drupal performance, potentially supporting a local or decoupled deployment configuration
  • Contribute to efforts to open source the catalog and support community-driven enhancements

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years of hands-on Drupal development in full-stack or back-end roles
  • Deep knowledge of Drupal module development, custom content types, views, permissions, and performance tuning
  • Proficiency in integrating Drupal with cloud-based data platforms and APIs (especially Acquia and/or AWS services)
  • Experience implementing secure, scalable architectures aligned with Zero Trust principles
  • Strong experience working in Agile environments with Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Tier 4 Public Trust Clearance

Compensation

$120,600 - $135,900 a year

All roles at Nava require the following:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to meet any other requirements for government contracts for which candidates are hired
  • Work authorization that doesn’t require visa sponsorship, now or in the future
  • May be subject to a government background check or security clearance, depending on the contract
