Requirements
- Construction underwriting experience, preferably at a large international insurance company
- Recognized relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and well established within the market
- Thorough understanding of regional/local Engineering & Construction insurance markets and competitor landscape
- Thorough understanding of policy wordings and relevant industry developments
- Ability to work quickly and effectively in a small team to hit regional construction team targets
- Capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective
- Excellent negotiation skills, ability to build, maintain, and expand relationships with key broker partners and clients
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Results-oriented
- Preferably a degree in engineering/construction, economics, law, or other appropriate discipline
- Ideally ACII qualified or working towards it
Responsibilities
- Empowered with significant underwriting authority to negotiate and make sound business decisions to deliver regional financial targets
- Assist the regional construction lead in developing and executing strategic initiatives
- Work with brokers in real-time and make quick decisions
- Provide streamlined service to brokers by following “Underwriting Rules & Guidelines” and using existing pricing tools/modeling tools/MI tools
- Collaborate with local distribution to establish a “pipeline” of target accounts across all lines of Insurance, not just Construction
- Use existing reports/data to monitor profitability trends across your portfolio
- Keep abreast of market developments, especially in your region
- Thorough understanding of policy forms/contracts and work with in-house legal team and outside counsel on complex coverage issues
- Develop strong long-term relationships with brokers and clients, providing superior service to establish mutually beneficial partnerships
- Provide training and support to junior members of the team
