Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
6+ years of relevant experience building test systems in a test lab (or 4 years with a Masters/PhD, preferred)
CAD proficiency (ProE, SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
Mechanical/electrical problem-solving skills
Basic understanding of testing, testing equipment, good laboratory practices, and department metrics (preferred)
Experience with root cause failure analysis, design input/output traceability, user need collection, and risk analysis (preferred)
Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills (preferred)
Comfortable and confident speaking in front of medium to large groups of people (preferred)
Test Lab/Test System experience (preferred)
Ability to bring tasks through to completion with minimal supervision (preferred)
Willingness to travel 10%

Responsibilities

Act as primary point of contact for design, development, fabrication, and implementation of electro-mechanical test systems
Establish system level strategies for development of new custom test equipment
Coordinate across functional areas to ensure alignment
Help set direction and engineering standards for the group
Develop skills and knowledge base of other engineers
Lead collection of Voice of the Customer (VOC) from key stakeholders
Prepare timeline and cost estimations for projects
Coordinate with and direct external suppliers or vendors for project completion
Provide input into selection of test equipment and methodologies
Develop and fabricate prototypes to evaluate new concepts
Provide input on vision, scope, and specifications for future test systems
Support all phases of test system development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, debug, verification, validation)
Coordinate activities of 1 or more temporary employees
Develop reports on key metrics such as on-time delivery and efficiency, detailing delays in testing schedule
