Senior Software Engineer

Position Overview

Clear Street is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help build our flagship Clear Street Studio, a modern brokerage experience. This role involves tackling complex problems, balancing trade-offs, and implementing clean, efficient solutions. You will contribute to core services for our world-class financial platform, designed to handle all aspects of client needs while maintaining a high SLA. You will develop a wide range of services, from user authentication and authorization to client data delivery, with opportunities to solve complex system design challenges and simplify complexity through feature and service design. As a senior member, you will mentor teammates, evolve technical standards, and promote a culture of system design.

Requirements

• Experience: At least seven (7) years of professional experience implementing highly scalable services in Java/SpringBoot, Kafka & Snowflake.
• Scalability & Data Handling: Proven contribution to systems that deliver solutions to complex business problems handling massive amounts of data. A strong draw towards scale, distributed systems, and associated technologies.
• Communication: Ability to clearly explain the nuances of system design and paradigms to engineers and stakeholders.
• User Experience Focus: Prioritization of end-user experience, reflected in API design, functionality, and performance.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong command over design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
• Collaboration: Ease in communicating technical ideas and a consistent drive to collaborate for high-quality product delivery.
• Mentorship: Experience in mentoring team members, defining engineering standards, and driving a system design approach to building new services.
• Preferred/Required Learning: Experience with gRPC, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes is preferred, but readiness to learn this stack is required.

Salary

• Base Salary Range: $170,000 - $225,000
