Requirements

Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of experience with Java. Experience in designing, building, and scaling backend services and APIs is required. Familiarity with service-oriented architecture, REST APIs, message queues, and scalable systems design is necessary. Experience developing risk management systems such as rules engines, ML-powered fraud detection, and high-scale event ingestion pipelines is also required. Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to CI/CD improvements are expected.

Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer, Backend will design, develop, test, and scale backend services and APIs for consumer products, partner integrations, risk management systems, and core platform services. They will build and operate robust, fault-tolerant distributed systems, implement service APIs for web and mobile apps, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features and integrations. The role involves translating feature requirements into technical specifications, leading the architecture and implementation of scalable solutions, and driving the full lifecycle of services and APIs, including deployment, monitoring, and optimization. Responsibilities also include contributing to the evolution of Flex’s service-oriented architecture, developing risk management systems, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring services are observable and reliable.
