Senior (5 to 8 years)
Candidates must have 5+ years in technical engineering roles, with at least 3 years focused in security, specifically in Detection Engineering, Incident Response, Digital Forensics, or Threat Intelligence. Proven incident response leadership with a data-informed approach and experience in detection engineering and automation using SIEMs, SOAR platforms, and Detection-as-Code are required. Knowledge of threat actor TTPs, current threat landscape, runtime security, EDR, forensic analysis tools, cloud environments (AWS, GCP), and proficiency in scripting and infrastructure tools like Python, Bash, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines are essential. A collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills and an ownership mentality are also necessary.
The Senior Security Engineer will design, build, and continuously improve threat detections across 1Password’s infrastructure, product, internal tools, and corporate environments. They will own end-to-end projects from scoping to delivery, collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance security visibility, logging, and response readiness, and participate in a shared on-call rotation. Responsibilities also include contributing to team excellence through writing playbooks, mentoring teammates, shaping a strong security culture, and supporting cross-functional security initiatives like vendor assessments and audits.
