Extensive knowledge of and experience with laws, regulations, and investor and insurer guidelines governing residential mortgage servicing, including CFPB, GNMA, FHA, VA, USDA, FNMA, and FHLMC. Experience with common mortgage servicing litigation is also required. The candidate must be proactive, able to work independently, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and litigation databases is beneficial.
Manage assigned litigation cases, focusing on proactive monitoring and risk identification. Develop and implement litigation strategies with outside counsel, preparing case summaries for management and investors. Maintain the Thompson Reuters Legal Tracker database, reporting on case status, strategy, and critical events. Track hearings, depositions, motions, and pleadings, and assess new litigation matters for risk and resolution strategies. Manage the discovery process, including drafting requests, preparing witnesses, and coordinating document production. Oversee relationships with outside counsel, including budget and invoice approval. Notify management of high-risk matters and assist with legal tasks such as subpoenas and regulatory requests. Support special projects, train staff, and provide coverage for team members. Respond to inquiries promptly and recommend procedural improvements. Maintain confidentiality and analyze requests according to guidelines.
