Senior Software Engineer

Position Overview

Tint is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to enhance our insurance services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong software engineering background, a comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle, leadership capabilities, and ideally, prior experience in developing features and tools for the insurance industry.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

• Provide technical expertise to support the Product team's discussions.
• Develop strategies and workarounds to facilitate rapid experimentation and MVPs, embodying a start-up mindset.
• Provide technical leadership within your team, resolving technical blockers and promoting industry best practices.
• Cultivate an innovative, collaborative, and blameless culture within the Engineering team.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, designers, product managers, and analysts.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code using Node, Next.js, TypeScript, and Postgres.
• Continuously enhance our codebase, systems, and processes.
• Write clear, well-documented, and testable code that serves as a standard for excellence.
• Leverage experience in distributed systems and third-party integrations (e.g., Stripe).
• Focus on delivering value to customers efficiently and creatively.
• Participate in the on-call rotation to address production incidents.
• Lead the breakdown of large, ambiguous projects into manageable tasks for the team.
• Define technical requirements for projects, identifying trade-offs and edge cases to contribute to a balanced roadmap of innovation and practicality.
• Take the lead in technical design and planning for major initiatives.
• Own and maintain up-to-date documentation to ensure knowledge sharing and collective growth.

Requirements

You should apply if:

• You have 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, with expertise in technologies such as Node.js, React.js/Next.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, and Postgres.
• You have experience working with AI agents and tools like Cursor, Claude, Copilot, and ChatGPT.
• You are located in the US, do not require visa sponsorship, and are able to travel once per quarter.
• You are comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities can shift rapidly.
• You have experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and Designers.
• You are comfortable working both collaboratively within a team and autonomously to achieve goals.
• You enjoy working on projects with significant ambiguity.
• You are skilled at leading technical discussions to drive solutions.
• You possess excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
