Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design or related field (or suitable combination of education, experience, and training)
  • 15+ years of relevant work experience in apparel design
  • In-depth experience in the apparel field, with a focus on performance
  • Enterprise leadership and experience leading creative teams and managing designers
  • Proven ability leading large teams with varied strengths, using a team-first approach to craft strong team culture and connectivity
  • Acts as a strategic creative partner to cross-category partners
  • Ability to think strategically about product relevance and product

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the VP, Creative Director Running, and partner with cross-functional apparel product leadership teams (Create and Expression, Apparel Design Excellence, Innovation, Concepts, Brand Design, and key downstream business partners) to drive a culture of creativity aligned with Nike Running's creative direction
  • Establish and nurture the creative vision and design directions for Nike Running Women’s Apparel product creations and PROMO across Racing and Road
  • Champion a culturally connected, inspiring creative vision emphasizing forward-thinking innovation and performance to lead the Running market
  • Build, hold, and maintain best standards of practice and design excellence, ensuring high quality, consistency, accuracy, and pushing creative boundaries
  • Seasonally partner with Running Expression Sr Design Director to evaluate consumer trends, macro global insights, and marketplace analysis to deliver innovative, craft-obsessed designs via physical and digital methods, fostering synergy across product, color, materials, and graphics
  • Develop design strategies and ensure excellence through advanced concepts
  • Manage presentations and communicate design visions to various audiences, meeting high standards and timelines
  • Lead category design resources, processes, and relationships to meet project standards and timelines
  • Build and run seasonal/annual project workload, occasionally supporting the larger Nike Design community beyond primary Running activities
  • Work with design leadership to develop design processes, handle annual goal-setting, and evaluate team performance
  • Recognize and build high-quality Women’s Apparel product designs; lead multi-disciplinary design teams (concepts, product, 3D, material, color, graphic designers)
  • Motivate the team, celebrate wins, and cultivate an open, collaborative creative climate through equity, inclusion, and diversity
