Requirements
- Current state license to practice respiratory therapy
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements
- Maintains current CPR certification
- Part of Humana's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program (patient-facing role)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and implement respiratory care programs
- Provide direct supervision of respiratory care practitioners
- Coordinate in-service programs
- Conduct pulmonary function tests, assess and interpret results, and determine treatment plans in consultation with physicians
- Administer inhalants, operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators
- Perform bronchopulmonary drainage, assist with breathing exercises, monitor physiological responses (e.g., vital signs, arterial blood gases, blood chemistry)
- Direct treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants
- Evaluate patient progress, recommend adjustments to treatment plans
- Participate in discharge planning and patient care conferences with physicians, nurses, social workers, etc
- Design home exercise programs, instruct patients/families/caregivers, recommend assistive equipment and follow-up programs
- Document patient care services in records
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Maintain safe and clean working environment, comply with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols
- Ensure equipment operation through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Develop respiratory therapy staff through information sharing and in-service training
- Comply with legal requirements, study legislation, enforce adherence, advise management
- Contribute to team efforts as needed
