Requirements

Candidates should have extensive experience navigating and onboarding to large ML codebases, and experience publishing or working publicly on language model evals used at big labs. A strong understanding of AGI and its initial conditions is desired, along with artistic, design, or notable product experience.

Responsibilities

As a model behavior researcher, you will help decide how today’s products and tomorrow’s AGI will act, design evaluations to ensure OpenAI’s models are aligned with this intent, and develop new evaluation technology to scalably oversee our models as capabilities advance. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with alignment, training, data, RL, and post-training teams, and requires advising management on HR-related risk mitigation strategies.
