Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an Accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology
  • Radiation Therapy (T) certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Ability to work specified hours (Monday-Friday, 8AM-4:30PM)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver prescribed therapeutic radiation doses to patients and accurately monitor and document each treatment
  • Perform patient assessment, direction, and education
  • Incorporate technical knowledge of equipment and expertise in clinical treatment set-up, anatomical landmarks, treatment recording, and management during patient care
  • Develop understanding of patient’s physical and emotional status and report to appropriate staff
  • Document patient care and treatment
  • Make decisions related to patient care and treatment beyond normal routine, including nutritional and skin care guidance, and suggestions for physician/nurse practitioner visits
  • Convey set-up instructions to co-workers and communicate effectively with physicians on treatment concerns
  • Make decisions regarding patient scheduling and times, and communicate with patients and families regarding treatment
  • Provide patient care and initiate life support measures as necessary
  • Interact effectively with patients, physicians, family members, department staff, and health care workers
  • Perform computed tomography scans simulations (CT Sims) at a level not requiring constant supervision
  • Understand simulation exam protocols and perform simulation of treatment area under the supervision of the Radiation Oncologist
  • Assist the Radiation Oncologist in the initial set-up of a patient's radiation therapy treatment
