Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in industrial technology or engineering; however, years of service in similar roles demonstrating capabilities could be substituted
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Quality & Welding field with at least 5 years in a Leadership Role
  • Experience in LNG liquefaction facilities preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of welding processes and proven experience with large-scale EPC projects
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks, work within project deadlines and adjust as priorities change
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy and the properties of materials used in LNG facilities
  • Possess the ability to mentor others through technical training and guidance
  • Have the ability to read and interpret engineer drawings to include P&IDs, Civil/Structural plans and details, Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Piping Isometrics, etc
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of all industry codes, standards, and industry best practices

Responsibilities

  • Have the ability to develop, qualify, and interpret Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and welder continuity logs in accordance with relevant codes (e.g., ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, API 1104)
  • Review and approve welding procedures, weld maps, and inspection and test plans (ITPs) to ensure they meet project specifications and code requirements
  • Have the ability to interpret and fully understand code calculations
  • Review and interpret non-destructive testing (NDT) results, including radiography (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and liquid penetrant testing (PT)
  • Evaluate the validity and acceptability of all inspection and test results, and issue non-conformance reports when necessary
  • Provide expert guidance and technical support to welding personnel, engineers, and project managers on complex welding and quality issues
  • Troubleshoot welding process problems, such as machine malfunctions or procedural irregularities, to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Serve as the technical leader on welding repairs and the resolution of defects
  • Oversee and manage the contractor welder qualification and certification program
  • Train and mentor third-party inspectors on best practices, code requirements, and advanced techniques
  • Create and deliver training content on welding and fabrication projects for new welders
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all welding procedures, certifications, inspections, and quality metrics
  • Communicate inspection findings, quality issues, and recommended process improvements to management and other stakeholders
  • Ensure all welding activities are performed in a safe and environmentally compliant manner
  • Stay current on industry trends, innovations, and changes to codes and standards to ensure the company's manufacturing and service procedures remain up-to-date
  • Act as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), as needed, to perform visual inspections of welds throughout the fabrication process and on final products
