Requirements

Advanced practice nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant with appropriate training in mental health services
Ability to establish effective relationships via telephone and personal contacts
Ability to follow direction and accept supervision
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports, document with a computerized clinical record, and e-mail correspondence
Ability to communicate effectively before groups of residents, employees, family members, and other community contacts

Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Responsibilities

Perform client assessment and diagnosis for adult clients and develop, implement, and provide follow-up and evaluation of treatment plans
Complete psychiatric assessments, including obtaining relevant health and medical history and ordering pertinent diagnostic tests
Provide psychiatric diagnosis based on the multiaxial system used by DSM-IV-TR (Axes 1-5)
Implement treatment plans, which may include brief psychotherapy and/or prescription of psychotropic medications
Prescribe psychotropic medications and order diagnostic tests as delegated per a current written collaborative practice or supervision agreement with the Staff Psychiatrist
Provide services utilizing experience and ability to meet client needs and treatment goals
Carry a caseload, the size and nature of which is established with supervisory staff
Communicate with attending physician as necessary to identify problems and establish treatment goals and objectives
Provide and/or coordinate comprehensive follow-up for all responsible clients
Be sensitive and responsible to management needs, such as data collection, program evaluation, development of grant applications, and maintenance of service contracts
Participate in all required meetings
Function in accordance with Brightli Operational Guidelines and professional code of ethics
