Requirements

  • High School diploma or High School Equivalency
  • Ability to read and comprehend American English
  • Previous experience in Abrasive Blasting (desired)
  • Obtain proficiency in Sonaca’s Work Order Tracking Program
  • Ability to apply basic math skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions
  • Attention to detail
  • Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in noise levels ranging from quiet to extremely loud
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including eye, ear, and foot protection
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-50 pounds
  • Operate pallet jacks and forklift with appropriate certification (for other job duties)

Responsibilities

  • Reading and understanding work order requirements
  • Identify parts with digital pictures
  • General Abrasive Blast operations using Aluminum Oxide, Nano-composite Media, Plastic Media, and Glass Bead Media
  • Ensure all equipment is in adequate working condition
  • Label Blast Cabinets with correct material types and media types
  • Document Media usage times and changeovers
  • Abrasive blasting for non-reflective black anodize
  • Surface preparation prior to the application of Sol Gel
  • Abrasive blast for rework operations to remove organic and inorganic coatings
  • Label containers for disposal
  • Maintain media inventory and report production needs to the Processing Supervisor
  • Operate pallet jacks and forklift (with appropriate certification)
  • Keep Abrasive Blasting area clean and organized per company Ultraclean/6S requirements
  • Observe safety requirements and use all required safety equipment
  • Handle customer-supplied product with care
  • Maintain and reinforce Sonaca’s quality standards to meet and exceed customer expectations
  • Available to work overtime when required, including weekends
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Processing Supervisor or trainer
  • Perform basic chemical processes under direct supervision of Chem Processing Supervisor, Chem Processing Lead, or qualified trainer
  • Perform non-complex racking techniques and unracking operations unsupervised
