Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Legal, or a closely related field OR combined education and experience (related education or general accounting, financial, bookkeeping, or auditing experience considered on a year-for-year basis; Judicial Branch experience substitutes on a year-for-year basis)
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), theories, and practices
Knowledge of proper auditing standards
Skill in utilizing established accounting and auditing operating procedures related to accounting standards, applicable laws and regulations, and the Court’s Accounting Guidelines
Skill in professional writing
Skill in computer applications – Microsoft Office Suite and accounting system software
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to plan and conduct reviews, including reviewing and evaluating accounting records and statements
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with judicial officers, court staff, and the public
Ability to learn Probate accounting, legal procedures, and policies
Ability to learn and apply Arizona Rules of Probate Procedure, state laws, and other policies applicable to Probate Court and related to the laws governing conservatorships
Ability to work independently
Ability to create written reports to explain complex accounting scenarios in a clear and concise manner
Ability to critically analyze accounting and legal procedures

Responsibilities

Review, monitor, and audit the management of assigned conservatorships, trusts, and descendent estates cases filed with the Superior Courts of Maricopa County, Probate Division
Ensure the integrity of the accounting for conservatorships, trusts, and descendent estates
Provide written reports to the Court and other interested parties detailing findings
