Candidates should possess a strong computer science background with an engineering degree, and a minimum of 7 years of experience in software development and delivery. They must have experience working on large-scale Java applications, along with a good understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and availability. Furthermore, experience with relational and NoSQL databases, transactions, and message brokers is required, as is familiarity with IaaS clouds like AWS/Google Cloud, Azure, or OpenStack.
As a Principal Engineer, the individual will be responsible for building highly-scalable and secure payments platform components, driving innovation in their area of ownership, and working with product teams to gather requirements and add capabilities. They will also collaborate with smart people in the industry, derive actionable insights from large datasets, build low-level infrastructure pushing network performance boundaries, and participate in recruitment and mentoring of engineers. Additionally, they will focus on using cutting-edge cryptography to secure payments and ensuring stability, maintainability, and scale in their designs.
