Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 5-8 years of relevant industry experience, or Master’s degree in engineering with 3-4 years of relevant industry experience, or Doctorate degree in Engineering with 2-3 years of relevant industry experience
Knowledge and experience in engine dynamics and vibration analysis
Completion of formal coursework in vibrations and/or dynamics
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to handle increasingly complex assignments through experience
Excellent communication skills for conveying technical information to team members and other teams
Working knowledge of Accuracy and Attention to Detail (accurately gauges impact of errors, uses checking tools, processes detailed information accurately, learns from mistakes, uses checklists)
Working knowledge of Analytical Thinking (defines problems, determines significance, compares alternative solutions)

Responsibilities

Execute torsional vibration analysis (TVA) for engine drivelines and perform geartrain dynamics simulations using in-house tools
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define simulation requirements for new product development, current product issue resolution, and cost reduction projects
Prepare clear documentation of analysis objectives, assumptions, methods, results, and conclusions
Interpret simulation results and provide actionable recommendations for design improvements
Collaborate with engine test teams to improve simulation tool capabilities
Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to the development of new simulation methods and tools
Serve as an experienced contributor on complex projects supporting Caterpillar product performance, durability, reliability, and quality
Partner with and provide technical guidance to global teams
Continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology
Grow professional network
