Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 5-8 years of relevant industry experience, or Master’s degree in engineering with 3-4 years of relevant industry experience, or Doctorate degree in Engineering with 2-3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge and experience in engine dynamics and vibration analysis
  • Completion of formal coursework in vibrations and/or dynamics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle increasingly complex assignments through experience
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying technical information to team members and other teams
  • Working knowledge of Accuracy and Attention to Detail (accurately gauges impact of errors, uses checking tools, processes detailed information accurately, learns from mistakes, uses checklists)
  • Working knowledge of Analytical Thinking (defines problems, determines significance, compares alternative solutions)

Responsibilities

  • Execute torsional vibration analysis (TVA) for engine drivelines and perform geartrain dynamics simulations using in-house tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define simulation requirements for new product development, current product issue resolution, and cost reduction projects
  • Prepare clear documentation of analysis objectives, assumptions, methods, results, and conclusions
  • Interpret simulation results and provide actionable recommendations for design improvements
  • Collaborate with engine test teams to improve simulation tool capabilities
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to the development of new simulation methods and tools
  • Serve as an experienced contributor on complex projects supporting Caterpillar product performance, durability, reliability, and quality
  • Partner with and provide technical guidance to global teams
  • Continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology
  • Grow professional network
