Remote is seeking a Payroll Risk & Compliance Lead with a primary focus on the APAC region. This role is a leadership opportunity to act as a subject matter expert for payroll and employment legislation in APAC, ensuring full compliance and driving strategic improvements across processes, policies, and systems. The ideal candidate will lead audits, proactively identify risks, and collaborate with internal teams to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.

What You Bring

  • Deep Expertise: Thorough knowledge of payroll legislation, employment tax, and social security regulations specific to the APAC region.
  • Compliance Experience: Proven experience in payroll compliance, payroll operations, or payroll audit within a multinational context.
  • Audit & Issue Resolution: Demonstrated ability to manage regulatory compliance, handle authority audits, and effectively resolve payroll-related compliance issues.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong capabilities in data analysis, reconciliations, and risk identification.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Excellent skills in explaining complex regulatory topics clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying improvement opportunities and driving meaningful change.
  • Process Improvement: Experience in leading process improvements, including automation, system enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, international, and largely asynchronous work environment.
  • Language: Fluency in English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regional Expertise: Serve as the technical lead for payroll and employment legislation in APAC, ensuring adherence to wage tax laws, social security regulations, and employment policies.
  • Audit Leadership: Conduct country-specific payroll audits to identify risks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement, and manage the implementation of solutions.
  • Compliance Resolution: Efficiently resolve compliance matters by engaging with tax authorities, legal advisors, and internal teams to address audits, disputes, and inquiries.
  • Strategic Advisory: Act as a strategic advisor to Payroll Operations and Product teams, ensuring the robustness and scalability of payroll processes.
  • Process Optimization: Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to optimize workflows and enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.
  • Project Management: Lead and support high-impact projects, influencing the development of payroll processes, compliance frameworks, and operational strategies.
  • Training & Support: Deliver training and support on compliance matters to payroll and cross-functional teams.
