Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to stand and walk regularly
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to climb or balance; talk or hear
  • Ability to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to occasionally taste or smell
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to work in environment regularly exposed to high, precarious places; wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes/airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, outside weather, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration
  • Ability to maintain moderate noise level environment
  • Ability to keep work area clean and free of clutter (housekeeping)
  • Ability to use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to use the correct tool for each job assignment
  • Ability to report injuries of oneself or coworker to management
  • Ability to report job hazards immediately (correct when possible) and document
  • Ability to inspect all tools and materials for defects and safety issues

Responsibilities

  • Establish operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling, and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current
  • Inspect the physical condition of warehouse inventory and equipment
  • Prepare materials for work orders and requisitions for equipment replacement
  • Ensure coordination of warehouse activities with other functions such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing
  • Salvage damaged or used material and/or manage its disposal
  • Check all hand tools weekly, report problems, and replace them as needed
  • Inspect and replace issued equipment (including hand and portable power tools) as needed
  • Ensure all flammables are returned for proper storage and/or disposal
  • Safely operate forklifts or other equipment utilized in the warehouse area or for parts and/or supply delivery
  • Participate in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to Tyson policies and procedures
  • Responsible for inventory control in the maintenance shop, receiving and storing parts, maintenance supplies, and miscellaneous items
