Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Entry-level designation into Clinical Advancement Program (CAP 1)
  • Ability to perform physical demands: heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, frequent prolonged standing, bending, moving machines/equipment up to 200 lbs., lifting chemical/water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
  • Comfortable in healthcare facility environment with moderate noise, potential exposure to infectious diseases
  • Capability for desk work, computer work, patient/staff/physician interaction, and possible travel to training/other facilities
  • Required to complete CAP requirements to advance

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate clinically competent care: assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation for assigned patients
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff (RNs, LVN/LPNs, Patient Care Technicians)
  • Participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities as part of ESKD health care team
  • Perform ongoing systematic collection/analysis of patient data pre/during/post hemodialysis treatment, document in medical record, adjust treatment plans, notify Team Leader/Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Physician as needed
  • Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family learning needs; provide initial/ongoing education
  • Direct/provide (with staff) safe/effective daily hemodialysis therapy delivery
  • Administer medications per prescription/approved algorithms, document justification/effectiveness
  • Initiate/assist with emergency response measures
  • Serve as resource for health care team, participate in staff training/orientation
  • Ensure correct laboratory collection/processing/shipping; reschedule missed/insufficient collections
  • Identify expected outcomes, document/update nursing assessment/plan of care via Interdisciplinary Team collaboration
  • Ensure patient awareness of transplant/treatment modality options
  • Perform all duties per Fresenius Kidney Care policies, nursing standards, state/federal regulations, under Supervisor direction/with guidance from Clinical Educator/Preceptor/other RNs
  • Assigned oversight of Patient Care Technicians
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
