Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, or related field
  • Ability to read and differentiate part numbers, labels, and work instructions
  • Computer and keyboarding skills
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, reach, and handle bulky parts; frequently lift up to 35 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data; continue operation to accomplish production goals
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machine and enter commands to edit program in order to accomplish quality production goals
  • Confirm accuracy of first set ups regarding size, shape, forming sequence, etc., using test pieces and again with first production piece and at subsequent intervals
  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
  • Retrieve, input, interpret drawings and other data found in computer system
  • Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance results, and adjust machine controls or control settings as required
  • Troubleshoot work-related problems by applying knowledge and experience to efficiently maintain production/quality goals with minimal attrition to equipment
  • Use computer (SAP) system shared plant-wide to accomplish and track production data
  • Measure, count, coordinate materials and parts to monitor production quality and volume
  • Clean scale or scrap from die with air hose or brush to achieve quality
  • Grind out burrs and sharp edges, using portable grinder
