Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server Administration (4-6 years preferred in database administration on distributed platforms)
Extensive experience supporting large size, high volume, and critical SQL Server environments
Proficiency in SQL Server installation, setup, upgrade, configuration, and space management (versions 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019; Standalone, SQL failover cluster, Always On; MS Azure)
Experience implementing and configuring DR solutions (Always On, Replication, Log Shipping, Mirroring)
Experience installing and maintaining SQL Server in Windows environments
Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server CPU, memory, I/O, disk space, and resource contention issues
Understanding of SQL Server encryption options like TDE
Good experience with backups, restores, and recovery models
Good experience with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
Knowledge of cross DB platforms like Sybase, MySQL
Good experience with PowerShell scripting
Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
Good time-management skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to operate independently and make decisions with little direct supervision
Flexible to work in 24/7 shifts
Must be a team player
Capable to upscale and take initiative to deliver tasks independently
Open to learn and work on new technologies
15 years full-time education (Bachelor’s degree)
ITIL V3/V4 Foundation certified
Preferred: MCSA certification
Preferred: Knowledge/certification on any Cloud Technologies

Responsibilities

Plan and implement medium to high risk changes on high profile production MS SQL
Analyze and assess the impact and risk of low to medium risk changes on high profile production databases
Resolve difficult/complex incidents affecting the operation/availability of high profile production databases
Create and review technical system recovery plans
Help to identify and plan RCA implementation
Make pro-active suggestions for service improvements
Prepare Runbooks as needed and review all SOPs
Automate manual tasks and recurring incidents
Adhere to SLAs
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with team members to ensure seamless service delivery
Engage in proactive maintenance and contribute to optimizing operational processes
