Requirements

  • AS in nursing and minimum of 2 years of acute clinical experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background
  • Current unrestricted RN license in applicable state(s)
  • Ability to work fixed weekend shifts or specified night shifts (e.g., Friday-Sunday 5PM-5:30AM EST, Friday-Sunday 6PM-6:30AM EST, Monday-Thursday 5PM-4AM EST, Monday-Thursday 6PM-4:30AM EST)
  • Training and mentoring period availability Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 5:00PM EST
  • Residence within reasonable commuting distance from posting locations (North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Florida, Texas, New York, California) unless accommodation granted
  • Internet signal reaching home through cable wire or fiber optic cabling (strongly preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Performs telephone triage to assess caller's needs and provide relevant health information to assist in making healthcare decisions
  • Establishes and maintains supportive relationships with callers and their families
  • Performs professional assessment of caller's needs with accurate, concise documentation
  • Conducts thorough symptom assessment of caller's situation using established criteria and protocol
  • Utilizes established software, written materials, online resources, and nursing background to provide callers with appropriate medical information
  • Provides callers with appropriate community resources as necessary
  • Refers more complex issues as needed for consultation
