Candidates need a PhD in Nuclear Engineering (postdoctoral preferred but not essential), or a PhD in nuclear and particle physics with NNSA and/or weapons lab experience, or a PhD in radiation physics with NNSA and/or weapons lab experience.

You will work closely with other Subject-Matter-Experts in chemistry, biology, and nuclear physics, as well as Research Engineers, CBRN strategists, and experts in AI ethics and policy within the Responsible Development & Innovation team.
A strong candidate is an experienced nuclear engineer with a relevant PhD and a keen interest in how nuclear engineering intersects with AI, passionate about AI's benefits and proactively mitigating its risks.
