Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree
  • 5 or more years of highly validated experience using simulation or other vehicle dynamics-based modeling software within a professional motorsport organization, preferably in a prior race-engineering role
  • Highly analytical, customer focused, and structured, with positive relationship and strong communicative skills
  • Experience using data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, McLaren ATLAS
  • Exposure to modern software development tooling and environments, preferably C#, Python and Git
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aero modeling techniques
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to interact well with others
  • Must be a great teammate, be able to work a flexible schedule and have a high level of integrity
  • Passion for motorsports and strong understanding of vehicle dynamics engineering
  • Ability to multi-task in a multifaceted, constantly evolving environment, bringing a strong work ethic and integrity

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role as a performance simulation support engineer embedded within a NASCAR Cup Series racing team
  • Use advanced analytics and GM tools to process and interpret test and simulation results, providing insight for performance optimization and simulation modeling, while improving model correlation
  • Be part of the broader simulation support team seeking to continuously improve and investigate methods to utilize the simulation toolchain and increase race team performance
  • Assist teams with test plan development and execution using testing equipment, including SPMM/Kinematic rigs, 7-post test rigs, and push-up/down rigs
  • Provide race teams expert knowledge in the simulation toolchain functionality and modeling practices
  • During at-track testing, when necessary, provide real-time support, including simulation model tuning based on setup adjustments and driver feedback
  • Troubleshoot simulation performance issues and recommend solutions during testing and competition
  • Represent racing team needs as a stakeholder in the simulation toolchain development process
  • Clearly communicate technical data, results and recommendations to GM and race team members
