Requirements

  • Must be able to attend the New Hire Orientation for two weeks, M-F, 8am - 4:30pm
  • Ability to provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and de-escalation support to patients of varying ages

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, attends to patient needs, and provides crisis intervention as needed
  • Transports patients to appointments, clinics, laboratories, and treatments; remains with residents when they attend off-site appointments
  • Facilitates and transports residents for community outings and meetings
  • Ensures safe practices for medication observation and administration, adhering to the six rights of medication safety
  • Facilitates on-the-job training for new and existing Mental Health Technicians (MHT)
  • Supports cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and exposure response prevention (ERP) therapies
  • Responds to emergency and/or crisis situations and supports visitor safety
  • Actively observes/monitors and records patient behavior and activities, including meals and food intake; completes daily treatment progress notes
  • Ensures the safety and accurate location of patients, maintains milieu management, monitors safety of patients, visitors, and the environment, and completes daily environmental rounds
  • Safely checks residents into the unit upon admission or return from an off-ground pass, completes admission and discharge processes, including belonging searches and required documentation
  • Reports any changes in patient condition or safety to the treatment team
  • Orients and educates patients upon admission
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including maintaining knowledge of department processes, pursuing self-directed learning, and participating in committees and work groups
